The Sphynx is a breed of cat known for its lack of a coat.
Lack of coat makes the cat quite warm to the touch. Whiskers and eyebrows may be present, either whole or broken, or may be totally absent. The skin is the color their fur would be, and all the usual cat marking patterns (solid, point, van, tabby, tortie, etc.) may be found on Sphynx skin.
[B]reeders in Europe have been working on the Sphynx breed since the early 1960s.

Looks like a brain carved into the shape of a cat.

You wouldn’t happen to know why they lack a coat?
According to Wikipedia, it is “an allele of the same gene that produces the Devon Rex”.
So, basically a random mutation that breeders then leveraged to create this particular breed of hairless cat (there are apparently more than one such breed, something I hadn’t originally known before researching this).
Thanks for the explanation! What a strange thing to do though; breed a cat with no hair. But I suppose there are many who prefer this breed or else there would be no sphinx cat.
