The Girl Who Holds the Key to Human Immortality in Her Genes

Girl-that-won’t-age-might-be-the-key-to-Alzheimer’s-Disease

[8-year old] Gabby [Williams] has a rare condition called “biological immortality,” and as a result still looks and lives like a baby. She has never aged and only weighs 11 pounds. Her parents, John and Mary-Margaret Williams, still have to bathe, hold and feed her and yes, Gabby is still in diapers.

Richard Walker, medical researcher said that she is the recipient of a rare genetic condition that only a few people have; biological immortality.

Walker has discovered that one of Gabby’s genes is damaged. He says that if he can properly identify which gene is damaged they could use it to shut down a person’s aging process. Once an individual reaches young adulthood if they could find a way to switch that particular gene off they could manually create a controlled type of biological immortality.

About

I design video games for a living, write fiction, political theory and poetry for personal amusement, and train regularly in Western European 16th century swordwork. On frequent occasion I have been known to hunt for and explore abandoned graveyards, train tunnels and other interesting places wherever I may find them, but there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that I am preparing to set off a zombie apocalypse. Nothing that will stand up in court, at least. I use paranthesis with distressing frequency, have a deep passion for history, anthropology and sociological theory, and really, really, really hate mayonnaise. But I wash my hands after the writing. Promise.
