Using GPS data from OpenStreetMap, these pendants are chemically etched and feature over 120 major cities from 32 different countries.

From Chicago to Tokyo, these tags are intended as unisex jewelry for urbanites who just love their city and want to pay homage to it.

Urban Gridded Dogtags is now raising money on Kickstarter, and for $50 – $100, you can wear a piece of your city’s map.

Clever use of GPS. I’m just waiting for them to do my home, though I suspect it may be a while before they do a GPS map of the sewer system.

About

I design video games for a living, write fiction, political theory and poetry for personal amusement, and train regularly in Western European 16th century swordwork. On frequent occasion I have been known to hunt for and explore abandoned graveyards, train tunnels and other interesting places wherever I may find them, but there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that I am preparing to set off a zombie apocalypse. Nothing that will stand up in court, at least. I use paranthesis with distressing frequency, have a deep passion for history, anthropology and sociological theory, and really, really, really hate mayonnaise. But I wash my hands after the writing. Promise.
