Wind turbine makes some kind of obnoxious noise. But Rotterdam-based tech firm The Archimedes is about to change that.

Lately, the company has officially introduced a wind turbine called Liam F1 Urban Wind Turbine which makes little noise. Most importantly, the turbine is said to be considerably more efficient than most other conventional turbines.

It draws on the form of the nautilus shell, and the screw pump invented by ancient Greek mathematician Archimedes of Syracuse.

Due to having minimal mechanical resistance, the turbine spins very freely. In fact, this wind turbine is said to have an energy yield that is “80 percent of the maximum that is theoretically feasible”.

About

I design video games for a living, write fiction, political theory and poetry for personal amusement, and train regularly in Western European 16th century swordwork. On frequent occasion I have been known to hunt for and explore abandoned graveyards, train tunnels and other interesting places wherever I may find them, but there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that I am preparing to set off a zombie apocalypse. Nothing that will stand up in court, at least. I use paranthesis with distressing frequency, have a deep passion for history, anthropology and sociological theory, and really, really, really hate mayonnaise. But I wash my hands after the writing. Promise.
