Once a thriving hub of industry, the textile mill now stands abandoned but still home to hundreds of color coordinated yarns.

The looms have stood unused for decades and the mill’s machinery is rusting away [since its closure in late 1980].

These images were taken by photographer Dan Circa, 29, after he was intrigued by the mill, located in Tal-y-bont, near Aberystwyth, Wales.

About

I design video games for a living, write fiction, political theory and poetry for personal amusement, and train regularly in Western European 16th century swordwork. On frequent occasion I have been known to hunt for and explore abandoned graveyards, train tunnels and other interesting places wherever I may find them, but there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that I am preparing to set off a zombie apocalypse. Nothing that will stand up in court, at least. I use paranthesis with distressing frequency, have a deep passion for history, anthropology and sociological theory, and really, really, really hate mayonnaise. But I wash my hands after the writing. Promise.

Hello , Great article! I am so fascinated by the abandoned Welsh Mill as I’m currently researching dying art forms such as textile spinning. Is there a way I can contact you for further information on the Mill? My ideal aim is to track down someone who worked there. Thanks

Unfortunately, this is about all I know of it myself. I can do some more poking around though if that’d help.

I’d greatly appreciate that! Given the decade it closed, I assume the workers should be of a retired age. Here’s to the hunt!
